So I’m home in the Westerwald at my parents’ place and it’s just a usual Saturday. Musical rehearsal and chilling. I’m wearing my favourite comfy pieces (again): Vila sweater, Billabong shorts and, of course, Vans. Sensing a pattern here? Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy Easter with your families. X

I did it. I ran my first competitive 10km run in Würzburg, the Residence Run, on Sunday with my friend Isa. It was hard because it was hot but I did it. And quite well I’d say! It took me 56 minutes and 52 seconds, less than an hour to run 10.000 meters and I am really, really proud of me.

The boyfriend took some photos but didn’t get many of the run itself because it was so crowded. The weather was pretty amazing so a lot of people came to watch.

2

Enjoying a banana protein shake and a whole wheat bread with almond butter and banana two hours before the run. An amazing protein booster! The right nutrition is extremely important when doing sports.

3

Beautiful Würzburg Residence. The latest 3 Musketeers film (the one with the flying ships that really wasn’t that good) was shot here and it is most definitely one of the most magnificent places in this city.

4

Placing my competing number.

Happy, proud and exhausted after we did it. First things first: rehydrate!

8

Happy after the beautiful day.

Thank you, Isa and Chris for the day and sticking with me throughout it. Even though it was tough and I suffered and had to fight through it I did it. And I will do it again. Only that time I will be better, faster and even prouder!

Did you ever do something like this? X

Weekly Inspiration

Another great week on the internet. Pinterest has been heaven again for me. Sooooooooo many beautiful and inspirational things. See for yourself!

Fashion

1

Just everything. The big scarf, the converse. Such an easy and pretty look.

Beauty

2

Just Keira Knightley. She’s the most beautiful human being in the entire universe, if you ask me. And this is my favourite look of her. Can I just look like that please?

Tattoo

3

Big and amazing mandala. I’d like a mandala tattoo, too, but getting an appointment as someone who works in shifts is quite a difficult thing to do.

I’ve fallen in love with running! After I’ve finished this post I’ll be off to the Würzburg Residence Run. Wish me luck!

Candles! I love candles. Maybe I’ll get my hands on some Diptyque goodness when I’m traveling because we don’t have them here in Germany.

So that’s it for the week. Did you know I have a tumblr blog, too? Tumblr is my favourite. I love having a collection of inspirational photos that are just pretty to look at. Have a look! Do you have tumblr, too? X

MOVE

Spoiler: the message of this post is: move, guys. Doing sports is amazing and you’ll never feel better. A parol.

I’ve done quite some sports all my life. But never really, you know? Not as much as I do now. In January this year, when my final pair of trousers bursted because I’ve gotten pretty fat the previous few months, I decided that it’s time to change something. That’s when I started the Freeletics Cardio Coach. I’ll do a whole post on Freeletics in three weeks because that’s when I hill have finished the Coach. Just so much: it opened my eyes for movement and nutrition and I’ve never felt as good and healthy as I do now.

Eating clean is extremely important and even though it’s really hard sometimes (I’m a lover of everything sweet and, you should know) it pays off! Going on the sports ground five to six times a week has become an addiction and I already feel bad when I don’t move one day. Working in a hospital I walk around a lot but being active like that is a completely different thing and I just need to tell you:
DO SPORTS! BE ACTIVE! BE MOTIVATED! You’ll feel so good.

2

This is my favorite outfit for working out. Billabong top (could wear it all the time), H&M sports bra and leggings, Nike Free 5.0 sneakers (you’ll feel like you aren’t wearing any shoes at all – like flying). This is after a Freeletics workout so please excuse me looking a bit tired.

I started a little workout calendar where I plan the workouts of the following week. This week’s a bit different from most because I got two new tattoos this week and had to rest a bit.

Most of the time I use the Freeletics App which makes it all super easy.

The BEST inspiration for fitness and eating clean and healthy is Pinterest. I have an extra board for these things and just love browsing around (it’s mostly recipes, to be honest. I love food.). I’m already planning on taking Yoga classes when I’m done with the Freeletics Coach as a nice complement to the Freeletics workouts. MOVE, PEOPLE!

March through my iPhone

As I told you before I pretty much live on my iPhone. I am addicted to Instagram and just love snapping everything on my way. There a my favourite five from March. Enjoy!

1

1. Spending my free afternoon in the sun on our balcony. I love love love that that Billabong top!

2

2. A healthy little snack before a 10km run plus a cup of coffee. Best way to get some energy!

3

3. Meet the beautiful boyfriend who takes the photos of me. Isn’t he just SO handsome?

4

4. Another snack. I could completely live on muesli. Seriously. Banana is always a must!

5

5. I cycled to my workout on the sports ground that day. Quite a nice warm up!

So these were five out of many, many more that you can see on my Instagram profile (clickable link above)! I hope you like them just as much as I do. Show me yours! X

This is a little category that I decided to start, showing you my favourite inspirational pictures I found on Pinterest this week. Enjoy!

I love Birkenstocks. I really do! But this combination is by far my favourite one ever. Well, I guess I’ll have to go check out this lovely black model.

Beauty

Just that winged eyeliner, the hair, the lips, everything. I barely ever leave the house without black eyeliner myself but even though I practiced quite a lot I can’t get it to look this perfect.

Tattoo

3

Fingers! I am starting to really love this. Especially this one consisting of lines and dots. Looks amazing.

I’ve never been a huge fan of running. But ever since I started Freeletics (I’ll tell you more about this soon!) and got fitter and fitter (quite a fitness freak by now) running became more and more attractive for me. Doing a competitive 10km run in Würzburg next week!

What were your inspirations this week? X

off the wall

1

I love Vans. I think they’re the coolest, most comfortable shoes and I could walk around in them forever. Also I love cats. No, that is not entirely correct. I am absolutely CRAZY about cats. I’ll probably end up like the crazy cat lady of The Simpsons one day. Completely mad but owner of about a million cats.

So when I was randomly browsing the Vans website to check if there are any new nice things, I found them. Vans with cats on them. I’ll say that again. VANS WITH CATS ON THEM! A.k.a. the most perfect shoes in the entire world! How couldn’t I have bought them? How? No way. These shoes belong on my feet and I swear, I will never take them off. Also they’re for a good cause being inspired by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty on Animals. So how couldn’t you love them?

That nice shirt was there, too, and I just fell in love with it. It’s so cool and easy and I just really liked it.

So what about you? Are you as crazy about cats and Vans as I am? X

What’s in my bag?

2

Oh, I’ve always loved these posts so much (these ones and tattoo themes ones) that I just had to make this my second post. Am I the only one who just finds “What’s in my bag?” posts so wonderfully inspiring and entertaining? I hope you’ll enjoy mine just as much as I enjoy all the others!

3

Calendar and Notebook: Even though I’m quite a fan of being able to handle everything via iPhone I think it’s important to keep a real paper diary and notebook. I note my shifts in the calendar and workout plans and blog ideas in the notebook. Plus they’re super, super pretty, aren’t they? The diary is by frankie magazine and the notebook ist just some nice one I found in Hugendubel, a huge German book shop chain.

4

iPhone and headphones: What should I say. I pretty much live on this phone. Really, it’s my second heart and brain and I would be completely LOST without it. The headphones aren’t even so much in use but I like to know that I always have them with me, just in case I need them for anything.

5

Glasses: It’s ridiculous how blind I feel without them even though my eyes actually aren’t that bad. But it seems like I’m very sensitive when it comes to eyesight and it’s like with umbrellas. When I don’t carry it around you can bet that I would have needed them. So they’re a really essential. These ones are by Maredo.

6

Tangle TeezerGermany’s a windy place. So I like carrying this little beauty around to detangle my hair whenever necessary. I love the Union Jack print because I’m just such an anglophile person but I’m afraid it was limited edition if you’re considering to buy it. It’s a great little tool, though. My hair feels so amazingly soft after I brushed it with this thing!

7

Sunglasses: I have a weird face. It’s really small and pretty much all the sunglasses of the world are way too big for it. Except Ray Ban Clubmasters. These fit my face perfectly and I love the look of them and how they match almost every style of mine.

8

Purse: Clearly I alway carry this one around. It’s the Leonie by Liebeskind Berlin in turquoise and I love how big it is! I have a lot of stuff in there, trust me. It’s funny that I took the turquoise one since I’m not a very colourful person. I prefer grey, black, white, maybe some nice prints but this was an impulsive love-at-first-sight-buy. And I don’t regret it because it’s a nice tough of soft colour.

9

Keys: What’s missing is my car key. I took it off because the boy needed it and without it the whole bunch of keys is just way lighter. The key chains are from the Sherlock Holmes Museum in London (which is AMAZING! Go there if you’re a Holmes fan!), a ballet point shoe by BLOCH and half a heart of which the boy has the other half. Well, I’m a hopeless romantic. Can you blame me?

I hope you enjoyed it and I’d really love to read your “What’s in my bag?” posts if you did some! Just post the link below. See you soon! X

Hello Internet!

1

Uh, the first one is alway tough, isn’t it? Well, hey there! I’m Katharina (old, long, traditional German name) and this is my blog “CHASING WONDERS”. I just thought for the first post I’ll do something like answering potential “Who the hell is that girl?” questions. Would that be okay? Not like anyone could answer, I know.
So. I am 21 years old and I am a German nursing student in the second year. I live in the beautiful city of Wuerzburg (I’ll tell you more about the city in an upcoming post) with my boyfriend, the most wonderful human being in the entire universe.
I am a HUGE fan of the blogging world so I decided to just take part in it. I love, love, love cats and owls and tattoos (got 8 myself) and English TV shows and good films and books and candles and a whole lot of stuff more. You know, I’m excited about many things in life and to me, all those small and big things are wonders. Wonders that make this amazing life as it is and if we choose to see those wonders as such the world can be a magical place.
So this is what this space is about. Showing you my wonders, small and big ones. In the language of the internet this is supposed to be a “lifestyle” kind of blog but let’s see where this goes, right?
You might wonder why I’m writing this in English. Even though German is my mother tongue I decided to be writing this blog in English. Firstly because it’s my favourite language to read, listen to, speak, think, everything! Secondly because I thought it’ll keep me trained in using another language than the one I speak everyday. It feels like a second mother tongue already to be honest.
